Magnesium-chromium refractories are a kind of commonly used high-temperature refractory materials, which are composed of magnesium oxide (MgO) and chromium oxide (Cr2O3). They have excellent high-temperature properties, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength, and are widely used in various industrial fields. Below are some common types of magnesia chrome refractories:
1. Magnesia Chrome Bricks: They are one of the most common magnesia chrome refractory materials, made of a mixture of magnesia and chromium oxide in certain proportions. Magnesia-chrome bricks have excellent compressive strength, high temperature stability and corrosion resistance, and are usually used in high-temperature industrial equipment such as iron and steel smelting, non-ferrous metal smelting and glass kilns.
2. Magnesia Chrome Spinel Bricks: They have added spinel (MgAl2O4) as an auxiliary component to improve the performance of the refractory material. Magnesia-chromium spinel bricks have better corrosion resistance, thermal shock stability and alkali resistance, and are suitable for occasions with special process requirements, such as glass fiber reinforced plastic pools, etc.
3. Magnesia Chrome Magnesia Brick: This type of refractory material adds nodularite (MgO-C) as an auxiliary component to improve the carbon loss resistance of the refractory material. Magnesia-chromium nodularite bricks have low carbon permeability and good slag resistance, and are suitable for areas that are more in contact with carbon during metallurgical processes, such as converter linings.
4. Magnesia Chrome Castables: They are castable refractory materials based on magnesium oxide, chromium oxide and a certain proportion of binders. Magnesium-chromium castables have greater construction flexibility and thermal shock resistance stability, and are widely used in lining, pouring and repairing of various industrial kilns.
These are some of the common types of magnesia-chrome refractories, each with specific advantages and suitability for different industrial sectors and applications. To select a suitable magnesia-chromium refractory material, process requirements, working temperature, chemical environment and other factors should be considered, and relevant technical data and supplier suggestions should be referred to.
