Garbage incinerators are equipment used to deal with municipal garbage and industrial waste, where the high temperature environment and the presence of corrosive gases put forward special requirements for refractory materials. The following are some of the main requirements for refractory materials in waste incinerators:
1. High temperature resistance
The internal temperature of a waste incinerator is usually between 800°C and 1200°C (1472°F and 2192°F), or even higher. Therefore, refractory materials need to have good high temperature resistance and be able to withstand thermal stress under high temperature for a long time without cracking or deformation.
2. Corrosion resistance
The combustion exhaust gas produced in the waste incinerator contains a large amount of acidic components, such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and sulfur dioxide. Refractory materials need to have excellent acid and alkali corrosion resistance to prevent the erosion and damage of combustion exhaust gas to the furnace wall and lining.
3. Thermal shock stability
Rapid temperature changes in waste incinerators easily cause thermal shock stress. Refractory materials need to have good thermal shock stability and be able to withstand the stress caused by temperature changes without severe cracking or damage.
Effective heat conduction and heat isolation are required inside the waste incinerator. The refractory material should have proper thermal conductivity for good heat transfer and control within the furnace body.
5. Mechanical strength
Refractory materials need to be mechanically strong enough to withstand physical shock and vibration from operations such as waste loading, mixing and discharging.
6. Dimensional accuracy
The exact size and shape of the refractory material is critical to the construction and maintenance of the furnace lining. Accurate dimensions can ensure tight connection and good sealing between refractory materials, thus preventing exhaust gas leakage and furnace wall damage.
These requirements make waste incinerators use special types of refractory materials, such as high alumina bricks, silicate bricks, silicon carbide materials, etc. According to the specific waste incinerator design and process requirements, the selection and configuration of refractory materials will also be different to ensure an efficient, stable and safe waste disposal process.
