The ladle is the key equipment in the steelmaking process, mainly used to store and heat liquid steel. Since the interior of the ladle needs to withstand extreme environments such as high temperature, high pressure, and erosion, it is necessary to lay a large amount of refractory materials to protect the equipment. The following are the types of refractory materials commonly used in ladles and their functions:
1. Hard non-foaming refractory materials: hard non-foaming refractory materials are generally made of alumina and silicon carbide, which have good high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and are suitable for the bottom and side walls of ladles and other positions.
2. High-alumina refractory material: High-alumina refractory material is mainly composed of alumina, which can effectively resist the erosion of alkaline substances and high-temperature environments, and is suitable for the middle and tail of the ladle.
3. Alumina refractory material: Alumina refractory material has excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature stability, and is suitable for ladle inner wall and furnace roof.
4. Magnesia refractory material: Magnesia refractory material is mainly composed of magnesium oxide, which has good corrosion resistance and high temperature stability, and is suitable for ladle lining and top.
5. Magnesium-aluminum refractory material: Magnesium-aluminum refractory material is composed of magnesium oxide and aluminum oxide, which has good wear resistance and high temperature stability, and is suitable for small bends at the bottom of the ladle.
6. Silicon nitride refractory material: Silicon nitride refractory material is a new type of refractory material with excellent high temperature stability, corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and is suitable for the side wall and bottom of the ladle.
7. Proton ceramic fiber: Proton ceramic fiber is a high-performance thermal insulation material with excellent high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and heat insulation performance. It is widely used in cooling walls, tops and bottoms inside ladles.
In short, different types and shapes of refractory materials are used in ladles to meet different process requirements according to their special positions and functions. These refractory materials have excellent properties such as high temperature, high pressure, corrosion resistance and wear resistance, which can effectively protect ladle equipment, prolong its service life, improve production efficiency and economic benefits.
