Kiln bricks, also known as refractory bricks, are used to line the walls of industrial kilns, furnaces, and other high-temperature equipment. There are several types of kiln bricks based on their composition, manufacturing process, and application, including:

  1. Fireclay Bricks: Made from a mixture of clay and water, fireclay bricks are the most common type of kiln bricks used in low-temperature applications. They have good insulating properties and can withstand temperatures up to 1600°C.

  2. High Alumina Bricks: These bricks are made from a mixture of alumina and other raw materials. They have excellent thermal stability and can withstand temperatures up to 1800°C. High alumina bricks are commonly used in steel mills, glass furnaces, and other high-temperature industrial kilns.

  3. Silica Bricks: Silica bricks are made from silica sand and have excellent thermal shock resistance and high-temperature stability. They are commonly used in coke ovens, glass furnaces, and other high-temperature applications where acidic or neutral slag is present.

  4. Magnesia Bricks: Magnesia bricks are made from magnesia (MgO) and have excellent resistance to basic slag, making them ideal for use in steelmaking and other industries where basic conditions are present.

  5. Zirconia Bricks: Zirconia bricks are made from zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) and have excellent thermal shock resistance and high-temperature stability. They are commonly used in aerospace and other high-tech industries where extreme temperature and wear resistance are required.

  6. Insulating Bricks: Insulating bricks are lightweight refractory bricks that have low thermal conductivity and are used to insulate kilns and furnaces. They are made from various raw materials, including ceramic fibers, perlite, and vermiculite.

  7. Chromite bricks: These bricks contain chromium oxide (Cr2O3) and have excellent resistance to corrosion and erosion caused by molten metals or slag. They are used in kilns involved in the production of ferrochrome and other high-temperature processes.
