Silica mullite bricks cannot be used to build lime kilns! ! !
Silica brick is a kind of refractory material, the main components are silicon and mullite, etc., and it has good acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high temperature deformation resistance, good thermal shock stability and mechanical strength. However, when it is applied to the lining of lime kiln, its compatibility with the limestone raw material of the kiln and the calcium oxide contained in the flue gas needs to be considered.
Silica mullite bricks react with materials in the lime kiln
In the lime kiln production process, a small amount of metal substances such as iron and aluminum are added to the limestone raw materials to increase the rate and integrity of the lime reaction. These metal substances may chemically react with the components in the silica mullite bricks, resulting in problems such as material quality degradation or brick cracking. In addition, the temperature in the lime kiln is high, and the flue gas contains a large amount of flue gas components such as calcium oxide, which may also cause erosion and damage to the silica mullite bricks.
Therefore, silica mullite brick is not the ideal choice of lime kiln lining material. Usually, the lime kiln lining is made of refractory bricks, high alumina bricks or magnesia alumina bricks. When selecting a specific lining material, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on factors such as kiln process conditions, production requirements, raw material composition and economic considerations, and conduct experimental verification in actual use on site.
Zhengzhou Zhenjin Refractories Co., Ltd. provides low-cost, high-performance refractory bricks for lime kilns, including magnesia-alumina bricks, magnesia-iron bricks, magnesia-alumina bricks, and anti-flaking high-alumina bricks.
