Both fused magnesia bricks and sintered magnesia bricks are commonly used refractory materials, but there are some differences in their preparation methods, physical properties and application ranges. The following will introduce the difference between fused magnesia bricks and sintered magnesia bricks from these aspects.
1. Differences in preparation methods
Fused magnesia bricks are formed by heating high-purity magnesium powder and other raw materials to a molten state in a high-temperature electric arc furnace, and then molded or extruded; while sintered magnesia bricks are calcined at high temperature to partially melt magnesium oxide. And form a bonded structure, and then shape it by molding or extrusion.
2. Differences in physical properties
Compared with sintered magnesia bricks, fused magnesia bricks have higher density and better refractoriness, and are also more excellent in heat resistance, erosion resistance and wear resistance. At the same time, fused magnesia bricks also have good carbonization resistance and can be used in environments rich in carbonized gases such as CO and CO2.

3. Differences in the scope of application
Due to the excellent physical properties of fused magnesia bricks, they are widely used in high-temperature equipment linings, regenerative heat insulation layers and other parts in steel, metallurgy, glass and other industries. Sintered magnesia bricks are suitable for some low-temperature and medium-temperature equipment linings and insulation layers due to their low cost and easy processing.
To sum up, there are certain differences between fused magnesia bricks and sintered magnesia bricks in terms of preparation methods, physical properties and application range. The choice of which type of refractory material needs to consider the specific use environment and requirements.
