1. Different raw materials
Magnesia-alumina bricks are mainly made of high-purity magnesia and alumina, while magnesia-iron bricks are made of high-purity magnesia and iron powder.
2. Different aluminum or iron content
Due to different raw materials, the alumina content in magnesia-alumina bricks is relatively high, generally above 60%; while the iron content in magnesia-iron bricks is usually around 10%.
3. Different density and strength
Magnesia-alumina bricks have higher density, high mechanical strength, and good wear resistance; while magnesia-iron bricks have a slightly lower density and lower mechanical strength, but have good corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance.
4. Different corrosion resistance
Magnesia-alumina bricks are suitable for acidic environments, while magnesia-iron bricks are more suitable for alkaline environments.
Generally speaking, magnesia-alumina bricks are suitable for various industrial kilns in high temperature, acidic and neutral environments, such as steel, non-metallic materials and other industries; while magnesia-iron bricks are suitable for industrial kilns in high temperature and alkaline environments. Especially in specific areas such as glass kilns and cement kilns.
