What is the thermal conductivity of silica bricks?

The thermal conductivity of silica bricks varies depending on their composition, density, and temperature. In general, the thermal conductivity of silica bricks ranges from 0.5 W/m·K to 1.4 W/m·K at room temperature (25°C). However, at higher temperatures, the thermal conductivity of silica bricks tends to increase due to the reduction of their apparent porosity and the increased thermal vibration of their lattice structure.

For example, the thermal conductivity of dense silica bricks with a bulk density of 2.3 g/cm³ can reach up to 1.4 W/m·K at 800°C, while for porous silica bricks with an apparent porosity of 40%, the thermal conductivity may be as low as 0.5 W/m·K at the same temperature.

The precise thermal conductivity of silica bricks depends on many factors, such as the manufacturing process used, the grain size and distribution of the raw materials, and the presence of impurities or additives. It is important to consider the thermal conductivity of silica bricks when selecting them for high-temperature applications that require good insulation or efficient heat transfer.
