The blast furnace smelting process includes complex physicochemical changes. After the raw materials for iron smelting are added from the top of the blast furnace, pig iron is obtained through the processes of preheating, reduction and melting of iron oxides, flow and separation of iron and slag down dripping, burning of coke and generation of gas. The smelting process is carried out continuously at high temperature.
Blast furnace generation age depends on many factors, its main factors can be broadly summarized as: furnace structure design, refractory material selection, cooling equipment matching and construction quality, production operations, lining thermal state maintenance, etc., especially into the middle and late stages of the furnace service, the furnace lining will be damaged to varying degrees, resulting in red hot shell or cooling pan (cooling wall) burnout, etc.. Therefore, scientific furnace long life maintenance technology is one of the main reasons to extend the life of the blast furnace.
From the current domestic and foreign maintenance of the blast furnace lining content and expression, not consistent. However, from the specific content of maintenance, it can be basically divided into three major categories.
The first category is complete repairs. We used to call it "overhaul": the blast furnace is shut down and the lining is completely renewed.
The second type of repair is non-complete. We used to call it "mid-repair": the blast furnace is shut down and part of the refractory material in the lining is retained, such as: retaining the bottom carbon bricks or the refractory material below the air outlet, etc.
The third category is the hot state repair. The blast furnace is repaired partially in the non-shutdown condition for the lining of the blast furnace.
The first two types of maintenance are similar to capital construction.
